Wonderful, Relaxing Stay

“My daughter and I had a wonderful time relaxing and spending time together at the Green Tree Inn over the weekend. She is a student at SLU and had an easy 45 minute drive. Elsah is a beautiful, quiet small village. That combined with Connie’s warm welcome immediately set the tone for a relaxing time. The inn is beautiful and very comfortable. Everything we could possibly have needed was available including a wide selection of coffee, tea and other beverages, fresh baked treats, games, information about the area, etc. Breakfast was delicious and we really enjoyed visiting with Connie and Gary. We will definitely be back!”

The BEST Experience!

“My girlfriend and I went in the beginning of January, not peak B&B season. But our experience was nothing short of perfect! The owner, Connie, was so hospitable, sweet, knowledgeable about the area/things to do/restaurants and maintained an immaculate B&B! My partner also has dietary restrictions (soy/dairy/gluten free), and Connie made sure that our breakfast accommodated this, as well as the wonderful peanut butter cookies that she baked herself. We totally can’t wait to go back!”

Great River Road 5 Star Green Tree Inn B&B!

“Our biking group (think pedals, not Harleys) made the Green Tree Inn our home for four nights this October. Ours hosts, Connie and Gary, made us all feel at home. Comfortable enough to allow us to take over the B&B kitchen for two of our evening meals. We are five couples, seasoned travelers all, with somewhat high expectations. Check. As many other reviewers have noted, the breakfasts and afternoon snacks are a delight. Never a repeat, always delicious. The rooms are spotless, linens luxurious. Great location in quiet Elsah, but proximate to all the Great River Road action. The Green Tree Inn is a great fit for couples looking for a romantic setting, or for small groups seeking a home from which to explore the area.”

Pampered in Elsah

“Connie took such great care of us! She baked afternoon snacks every day and made delicious breakfasts. We were there for a charity bike ride and we had to leave at 6 am every morning, but Connie always had home-made muffins and fresh fruit ready for us before we left. The Inn is adorable and Elsah is a quiet, pretty little town. There aren’t any restaurants in Elsah but we drove to Alton for dinner every night, a 15 minute, very picturesque drive along the Mississippi River.”

Great Visit

“We had the opportunity to stay at the Green Tree Inn on Tuesday, May 16th. The owners met us at the door and were wonderful. We asked for suggestions for dinner and they were more than willing to tell us about each of their suggestions. The room was great and the breakfast the next morning was great. The muffins melted in your mouth and were absolutely delicious. Would definitely go back.”

Staying along the Great River Road, Illinois

“This is one B and B that we will return to again and again in every season. Just a few miles north of St. Louis, MO, the Green Tree Inn provides a perfect base from which to explore the Mississippi River Great River Road between Grafton and Alton, IL, and beyond. The rooms are very comfortable and spotlessly clean; the common areas are cozy with coffee and snacks available all day and night, including freshly baked cookies that Connie leaves on the table every afternoon. These are only part of the extraordinary efforts that Connie makes to ensure that her guests are wowed! And she went above and beyond by preparing breakfast for us super early so we could get out to photograph the bald eagles. We Loved it here and will definitely be back in different seasons to experience the charm of the inn and Elsah.”

A Wonderful Get-Away in Historic Elsah

“What a wonderful place to stay for a weekend! Connie and Gary were excellent hosts, accommodating our every need, including helping our 12-year-old be as comfortable as possible when he wasn’t feeling well. The rooms were clean and roomy, and the bed linens and towels were top-of-the line and incredibly soft. The food was so tasty and plentiful that we never left feeling hungry! The chocolate cake and pineapple upside down cake in the afternoon did not go unnoticed by my crew either. They were warm and delicious and gone in an instant. I highly recommend the Green Tree Inn for a quaint getaway!”

Exceptional B&B!

“I join the dozens of other great reviews. Outstanding in every single aspect! Gracious hosts, Connie and Gary, are incredible. The hospitality and friendly service are unmatched. The accommodations are clean, spacious, and extremely well-decorated. The locale is perfect…quaint village of Elsah, near St Louis/Alton/Grafton. Very convenient. Gary gave us a tour of the Elsah Village Museum…very interesting. Highly, highly recommend a weekend stay at the Green Tree Inn in Elsah, Illinois.”

Thanks for the Memories

“My sister and I stayed here last night and it was wonderful. We just wanted to get away for a day to chat and enjoy the scenery. It was so clean, the breakfast was wonderful and the rooms were very comfortable. Could not have asked for more. Connie and Gary are just delightful hosts, they make you feel like old friends the minute you walk in. They were so helpful finding good places to go to eat and find things to do. It is not often you get way more than expected but this is one of those places. Can’t wait to go back. It is just an hour away from home but it seemed like a different world, the town is so quaint and the views are wonderful. Just off the river road in IL.”
