The inn is located right in the heart of quaint, quiet, historic Elsah, IL. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the village of Elsah is colloquially known as a “village where time stood still” due to its well-preserved 19th-century architecture. The village is also known for its scenic beauty, being tucked away between beautiful high limestone bluffs and tree-covered hills, just a stone’s throw from the Mighty Mississippi River. Elsah is easily accessible from the Great River Road, giving visitors quick access to both Alton and Grafton. This makes our village the perfect place for a weekend (or weekday!) getaway while still being in close proximity to shopping, restaurants, wineries and other exciting attractions. Downtown St. Louis is just a 45 minute drive south and is a great day-trip destination with endless things to do.

No need to leave the inn for an enjoyable stay. Beneath the guest rooms, on the ground level of the building, is a common area accessible to guests any time of day or night which is stocked with complimentary beverages including water, sparkling water, soda, tea and coffee. Guests have access to a full kitchen as well as a fully stocked game room with puzzles, card & board games. This area also features a comfortable sitting space that is perfect for relaxing by the fireplace with a good book or great company. Outside in the garden is a sitting area overlooking the flowers, butterflies, and various birds of spring and summer. In the cooler months, guests also have access to a firepit.
