Green Tree Inn of Elsah is a locally owned bed & breakfast where every guest reservation is very special to us. We strive to make every stay truly memorable, which you will see in our attention to detail including freshly prepared afternoon treats, thick plush Turkish bath towels, high quality luxurious bedsheets, and uniquely decorated themed rooms. Each night you stay at the inn includes a delicious, full service breakfast in the morning and we are happy to accommodate special dietary needs.
Bookings: Two rate types are available at booking — Signature and Preferred. The Preferred Rate is our best value offer, but is Non-Refundable and requires full payment at the time of booking. The Signature Rate offers guests more flexibility in the event of cancellation and requires a 50% advanced payment at the time of booking. In the event of cancellation, the below policy will apply; otherwise, the balance of payment is due upon arrival.
All room rates assume a standard two (2) person occupancy. There is a $25 per day charge for each additional person over the standard room allowance.
Rates/policies are subject to change and may vary during high impact periods and with special events/requests.
Cancellations:
Cancellations aren’t fun for anyone, and we understand situations arise making cancellations unavoidable. However, last minute cancellations can have a significant impact on our business, as many of our guests reserve stays far in advance and rooms can be hard to fill on short notice.
For Signature Rate bookings only:
- Cancellations thirty (30) or more days prior to your scheduled check-in date will receive a full refund of the initial deposit with no additional fees.
- Cancellations seven (7) days or less before scheduled check-in date will not receive a refund on the initial deposit unless we are able to rebook your room(s).
- In the event that you must cancel or shorten your stay with three (3) or fewer days notice, please understand that you will be charged the full amount of your reservation.

Check-in & Check-out: Green Tree Inn of Elsah strives to offer clean and comfortable accommodations to all our guests. We want to be your home away from home and ensure you have a relaxing getaway. Enjoy your stay but please be mindful that we are a small operation with a busy schedule and timing is important to us.
Check-in: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
If you will be arriving later than 5:00 p.m. please call (618) 374-2821 or email us at owner@greentreeinnelsah.com to make prior arrangements with the innkeeper. Early check-ins will require an additional $25 charge, though we are happy to hold your luggage free of charge while the room is being prepared.
Check-out: 11:00 AM
Late check-out may or may not be available for your departure date, and may incur an additional charge. Please contact the innkeeper before your arrival to make arrangements.
Smoking Policy: For the comfort and enjoyment of our guests, Green Tree Inn of Elsah does not allow smoking in the rooms or on the premises. Please be courteous of others and the property. Any evidence of smoking inside the guest rooms or common areas will result in an automatic $500 charge to the credit card on file to cover the cost of additional cleaning.
Children: Older children are welcome with an accompanying adult. We ask that there be no children under the age of 10, as the property is not well equipped to handle young children.
Pets: Although we love and support the companionship of all furry friends here at the inn, we regretfully are unable to accommodate guest’s personal pets at this time.
ADA Accessibility: Green Tree Inn of Elsah is committed to facilitating the accessibility and usability of this website for all people with disabilities. We will continue to implement the relevant portions of the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 Level AA (WCAG 2.0 AA) or such other standards as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). On a periodic basis, our website will be tested with assistive technology.
We work to ensure every guest who wishes to visit can do so regardless of their physical abilities. However, please be advised that our guest rooms and parts of our property are not fully accessible to persons with certain disabilities. Although none of our guest rooms are fully wheelchair accessible, we do have one guest room that is downstairs and easy accessed from the parking area. We are also more than happy help with luggage or provide additional amenities you may need.
