We take Christmas very seriously at the Green Tree Inn. The decorating begins the first week in November and is completed in time for the Holiday Open House Tour that is the first Saturday in December every year. This year included five Christmas trees, a decorated garden, our own village and lots of snowmen. Gary and I started collecting St. Nicholas Square Villages from Kohl’s in 1998. Little did we know that 14 years later, we would actually be living in a village. I enjoy setting up “our” village and sharing with all our guests and visitors from the Holiday Open House Tour. Normally our kitchen is decorated with our chickens. During the holiday season, all the chickens are packed up and replaced with my snowman collection. Then we end up with wrapping all the porches on the Inn with garland and lights. When you see Gary, please be sure to tell him THANK YOU for carrying all the boxes to and from the basement. Since he does not share my enthusiasm for decorating EVERYTHING, it would be great to let him know his effort is appreciated.
The Holiday Open House Tour happens every year the first Saturday in December. This year 12 historic homes here in the village opened their homes for the tour. Mark your calendar now so you don’t miss it next year.
